Video recording file size htc x one 4gb limit problem!

Hello to all!

I have an htc x one that I took to a festival and I used an app called Cinema fv - 5 lite to record all my videos, which turned out beautifully. However, the one video I really wanted to work (ironically) was the longest one at over half an hour...this caused a pop up on the phone to say something like 'maximum file size exceeded. Shut down app' or something similar. I didn't worry too much, except when I got home to access this file as it reads 0kb on everything and won't open, however when I go to the stock standard gallery option and press hold on the file, it reads as '4gb'!

So my question is: how do I access or restore this video file! It's very upsetting! :(

Any feedback or help is so very much appreciated!!!!!!

Thank you everyone! :)

It sounds like the video didn't save because of a issue with the maximum file size limit being reached. Unfortunately there may not be away to retrieve it.

Thank you so much for your fast response !!!

That would be a shame, the file isn't exactly 4gb, it is more like 4.34gb or something similar.... It's very sad that I didn't know about any maximum file sIze pre set, I thought you could simply pint and shoot whatever you wanted....

Oh well, if anyone else has any ideas I would be great full! :)

omg i have same problem...
I was with my kids on Disney show yesterday and (i did not get any message of closing or that is 2 big) i have recorded bout 1 hour of footage (with built in recording software) and now it is completely useless??
does anyone know tool that can fix end of file so i can have at least part of it if not all?
i tried with tools that i even never used before but they cant load cause file is corrupted ... on my pc players and software say that cannot render file.
how can broken render be fixed in this case??

Yes it's very sad, surely there is a way to retrieve it if it says it's 4gb of data in file size? :(

It sounds as if it was saved on the SD card. If it was, put the card in a card reader and plug it into a computer. Download PhotoRec, burn it to a disk and boot the computer with the disk. PhotoRec will find anything that looks like a movie (and a lot of other stuff) on the card and save it to the hard drive - but only the first 4GB probably, because hat will be all that was saved. (The FAT32 file system has an inherent limit of 4GB per file due to the math of the file system.)

If it was saved in internal storage, consider it gone.

@Nikola:
If the file is actually corrupted, it can't be recovered because the data you want to recover just isn't there. It's like finishing reading a newspaper article when someone burned the page it's continued on. PhotoRec might recover the beginning of the file - up to the point where the corruption starts, which might be almost all of it or almost none of it.
