How can I set up traffic alerts for a commute?

I have two different regularly used routes. One regular route to get to work, another regular way to get home.

I would like Google Maps to tell me if there is a problem when I turn on my phone.

Thing is, I don't always leave work at the same time. Is there a button or link I can use on my mobile device to force it to check for me?

I managed to get my home and work address programmed in, but I don't see how to do the rest of it.

Thanks.

Not sure you can get a "problem alert". However, you can easily start the G Map app and get directions to your destination. The included ETA should let you know of there is a problem assuming you remember the normal travel times.

If you open the Google App and select Customise in the menu there should be a 'Commute' section that looks like this when you expand it. There you can select what parts you'd like to be notified about
