How can I stop my Galaxy S3 screen flickering and freezing?

Galaxy S3 screen flickering and freezing

I've had my phone for years without a problem, but just now I checked it and the screen is flickering (white line, horizontal across screen) and freezing whenever I try to unlock it. It also says that it has 100% battery when it's actually at 3% right now.

Earlier I did accidentally get some water on it, but I didn't think it was enough to do this as I've spilt water on it before.

I'm afraid it is probably the water. Even if a phone dries out and works fine for awhile, you can have water damage from that incident show up later.
