How can I stop virus warning pop ups?

virus warning pop ups?

ive been getting virus pop ups ads only on internet explorer the past few days, not even when im on any websites, it just shows up and its making me go batty. always different pop ups but all saying along the lines of the same thing "your android is at risk""your android is at serious risk" one says its infected by browsing adult sites which i fo not. ive tried clearing all history and going through settings and im at a loss of what to do. help is veryyyy much appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Internet Explorer is Microsoft, so that doesn't sound right--which browser are you using?

I'm confused--you're saying the popups occur while you're in the browser, but you're not on any website?
