so i got the watch, i went to t-mobile, bought a pre-paid 15 dollar a month sim card and i cant get it to recognize, in fact it says "missing sim" when i put it in.

i had one of the guys at the t-mobile store put his sim in and it recognized t-mobile so it lead me to believe it was in fact unlocked.

ill give 20 bucks to whoever solves this problem.

UPDATE: t-mobile now shows up under access point names, it didnt before.. a step forward.

Update 3: https://www.frequencycheck.com/carr...urbane-2nd-edition-lte/t-mobile-united-states I found this, is this true? because that would explain everything.

under "network operators" tmobile shows up, but when i click on it it takes me out of the menu like i swiped.. i cant select it.

i called t-mobile they said everything looks fine on their end.

Update: it is now saying Selected Network -tmobile- unavailable.

Posted by Daverns: After talking to T-MO tech support, I ended up cancelling the Wearable Plan, as it will only work on wearable sold by t-mobile. The only way to make it work is to change the plan to a regular voice plan, which will cost $20 for me (add a line). I guess for now, I will be using the watch using bluetooth/wifi only, which is fine with me. I can always use my phone sim if I really need to use it without the phone.

Can anyone confirm?

It is a known fact for over a year that Tmo wearable plan locks to known imei numbers of wearables sold by Tmo. There are ways for Tmo CSRs to work around this by put your watch's Imei number into the system but 99% of them don't know how.

Can anyone confirm?
I have Tmobile and have been trying to make this watch work with my wearables plan I already had since November. It never worked for me, even after repeat reprovisioning of the sim by the engineers. They had me pick up a new sim card which never worked with the wearables plan in my watch either. Others managed to make it work with that plan as reported on this forum, so there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it at all.

A user here, mwd1995, found that Truphone works with this watch, as opposed to some other prepaid providers that don't send out their APN settings correctly. I've been using a Truphone sim since March and it's perfect. I only use my watch in stand-alone mode when I go running, about an hour a day. The maximum data I ever used was a bit over 3MB ($0.28), the lowest 36kb ($0). I've received notifications and calls during my runs, and so far, used up $1.02 in April!

hey xen thanks for the info, i am considering getting truphone for the watch. since i will ONLY be using data, over cellular i think it might save me money going with them. the only reason im going to use it is for google maps and skype calls while i am out.

Hey Starcat so did you get an Android phone to replace your iPhone?

Additionally, if you plan to use this watch for data only through cellular you might end up paying more than xendula or mdw? I'm assuming xendula and mdw has their smartwatches connected to their Android phone via Bluetooth most of the time. That means the data they use is coming from their smartphone most of the time which reduces their data consumption from the watch. Truphone charges by the megabyte. I don't use Skype for calls and I'm not even sure it works as a standalone app without an Android phone near by but i assume data can add up based on how much you use it.

There is no Skype call. And if you don't have an Android phone, I don't know where you even get the skype app on the watch. The skype AW app only supports skype messaging.

Yeah my data usage is not very high. Less than 30MB a month probably. It's 9 cents a MB so it could add up if you use a lot of data.

no i didnt get an android phone yet, i had T mobile put in the IMEI number and new stuff came up, so now im just waiting the 2 hours to see if it starts working.. but its a 15 dollar a month plan for like 500 MB.

if i can at least skype message in standalone thats ok.. its pretty disappointing i cant use it to call.. i dont even understand why thats not an option.

I live in teh US - can you please send me what plan (pre-paid?) and sim card you got? Thanks!

i do all of my business over skype so i mainly need it just to keep in contact with my customers if i am out doing things, so i can at least talk to them and let them know im not ignoring them and ill be back in the office or send a message to someone etc.

ok i might have to check that out.. in other news i just got a message on the phone from t-mobile but i still have the broken cloud thing.

If you can make/receive calls and send/receive text messages, your SIM is working fine. The cellular data is hard to test because the lack of app to test.
I know google maps app on the watch can work without tethered to a phone. Can you try it to see if the data connection is actually working? You may have to go outside and wait a few minutes before GPS locks in. Once it locks in, it should be able to download maps if data connection is working.

The thing is if you don't have an Android phone, we don't know if the AW app on iOS even support cloud sync at all. The cloud icon only shows up when watch can't connect to the phone via what ever way that is supported..

Hi, so, is your watch now working with the Tmo wearbales plan?! BTW, it's unlimited data, but 500 of them are high speed. You can see if cell data is working with wear browser, which costs a few bucks but allows you to look up things in a punch, or a free app called glympse, which sends out tracking details... Or you can try to send an email, if you can't install apps via the iPhone.

I think eventually, more apps will work in stand-alone mode. Right now, this is the ONLY Android Wear watch with cellular functionality, so support is slow in picking up.

i took it to a T-mobile store and had them inspect it for a few hours, they tried EVERYTHING and they said in every capacity the watch is fully functional / working /sim card is working , everything should be working normally, they can not understand why i am not connecting cellular. they think i might have a defective watch, because everything says t-mobile but i still have the broken cloud.

the guys at the t-mobile store paired it with a few of their phones so i have maps and a few others. still no connection even though t-mobile says everything is working perfectly on their end. at this point i think its a watch defect or some other mysterious thing. which is of course exactly my luck. i will ALWAYS get the 1 bad watch out of 1000000 good ones.

But can you make phone calls on it? The broken cloud doesn't mean you do not have data it means you are not connected to an Android phone through cloud sync. The watch might not be defective if you can make calls on it and use Google maps.

Also, if you have no cellular connectivity, it could be this specific sim card / the wearables plan. Just put your iPhone sim card in it and you'll see it's not the watch.
