How can I tell if the water indicator has been tripped on the Samsung galaxy s3?

I've been searching the forums and on the Internet, to see what the water indicator looks like and where it is. My phone doesn't have the little stripped box behind the battery, and it doesn't have a strip on the battery. I do have the w1 and w2 markers, but they are said to be antennas. I was wondering if someone could give me a answer to where the water indicator is. Oh, and my phone is on AT&T, if this helps. Thanks.

I don't know for sure. I do know that Apple puts one in the bottom of the headphone jack on some of their devices, so that's one possibility. Otherwise, I'd look in every opening in the chassis that you can view with the back cover removed.

Not sure on the S3 but I know on Blackberries there were between 1 and 3 visible indicators to the consumer, and a few internal, only visible on teardown by a technician.

On my S3 there is one next to where the battery connects for charging and operating the phone. Also one on the battery. They will be White or White with a Red X's that bled red onto the white part when wet.

For the S3:

- Just to the left of the battery approx 2/3 the way up from the bottom of the phone there is a little hole with a normally white dot indicator. This will turn red if subjected to water

- The battery also has an indicator on the bottom where the charging contacts are. This is normally a white strip that will also turn red when subjected to water

- There is also another one inside the rear plastic frame that protects the motherboard.

There's a cool photo teardown here if you want to see what the innards look like...
