How can I turn the proximity sensor on or off on my LG Phoenix 3 mj150 at&t go phone?

Every time I have to make a call the screen goes black and i can't turn on the speaker to hear if the call went through, without touching the power on/off phone switch on the back of the phone, please help me

Welcome to Android Central! Make sure the proximity sensor isn't blocked by something like a screen protector or an ill-fitting case. Also, make sure that the glass overlying the proximity sensor is clean.
