How can I update my HTC One M7 software?

Htc one M7 software update

Hello,
I have my HTC one m7 with me for over a year now... i never had my android updated, and its still on android 4.2.2 and sense 5.0 (model 801e)
when ever i check for new updates, it says my phone is up to date.

how can i update my phone? even manually?

Welcome to Android Central! Which carrier do you have? Did you get the phone from that carrier, or did you move to a different carrier and swap SIM cards? Do you know if the phone is rooted?

thanks for answering
i didnt change the root, although i did switch my carrier (non usa) after i bought the phone, and swapped (right word?) SIM. i didnt get the phone from any carrier

It may be the fact that you changed carriers. System updates for non-Nexus devices are typically pushed by the carrier for their specific phones, so if you changed carriers, I think it might prevent the phone from getting the carrier-specific update that was originally intended for it. If you didn't get the phone from a carrier, how did you get it? Was it being sold unlocked? Was it used? Do you know if it was originally from a carrier?

i bought in in a computer/cellphone store, and it was brand new, not pre owned.

is there any way to update my phone? manually maybe?
