I downloaded the IOS iphone ringtones and was able to use the ringtone I wanted for the phone but see no way to use the other tones for messages and email..
I still haven't found a way to have a different tone for text messages and email.. With either on board settings or with the IOS ringtone download..
Very frustrating not knowing what is coming in without looking at the phone..
I'm sure it's me but I have searched and looked through all the menus but haven't found a different tone option for them.. AT&T user..
If I can get this figured out I will be a very happy camper...
New to Android, but loving it..
Thanks for any help,
Sonny

There are global settings for sounds in the phone settings. These settings apply system wide. Additionally, when you open the email app and messaging app you can set notification sounds within the app for those apps only. In case you have multiple email accounts, you can set a different sound for each account from within the email app settings. The sound files you downloaded will need to be in the "notifications" folder in the device internal storage for them to show up in the list as available options when you change the notification sound with email or messaging apps.

Thanks for your reply..
I found a setting under messaging/settings, but when I open email and go to settings I don't see an option for tones as I did in messaging..
Is there an easy way to move the IOS ring tones to the notification folder?
Sorry I'm so dumb but have been an iphone user for yrs.. Glad I made the switch but there seems to be a learning curve that I am struggling with..
Thanks,

Sonny

With the stock email app (not Gmail app), open the app, press capacitive menu button on phone (lower left beside home button), select settings, on the resulting screen near the top select account settings (if you have two or more email accounts on the resulting screen select the account you want to change, on the resulting screen you will see an option to select the tone.

With the Gmail, open the app, press the capacitive menu button (same as above), select settings, on the resulting screen select your Gmail account, on the resulting screen select Inbox sound & vibrate, on the next screen select sound and set as you would like.

To move the sound files, open apps drawer and select (open My Files app), upper left of screen tap "All", resulting screen will show Device storage and SD memory card, select the option where you downloaded the files to, if you downloaded from a website or someplace similar they are probably in your Device storage in the Download folder, in that case select Device storage then scroll down to the Download folder and select it, once you have navigated to where the sound files are press the capacitive menu button and "select item", a checkbox will appear next to the files in that folder, place a check mark (tap) in the box of the files you want to move, you will see a green checkmark, press the capacitive menu button and select "move", this will take you back to the screen showing device storage and sd memory card again, select device storage, scroll down to notification folder and select it, once it is open in the upper right you will see an option "move here", tap it and your done. It sounds much more complicated than it really is, you will see what I mean when you go through the steps.

No need to apologize, it is a bit of a learning curve and thats one of the many reasons this forum exists (to offer help and assist others). Ive been in your shoes and know it can be a little confusing, it just takes a little time to adjust to a new way of doing things. If you need anymore help with this just post back. Let me know how this works for you, hopefully I explained it well enough.

Thanks once again... You made the email tone choice an easy fix..

I hate to admit it but I am unclear on the moving the IOS ringtone folder..
I don,t know where to look for the Apps Drawer...
I do know I saw a download folder somewhere but file wasn't there.. That was looking in ES File manager..
I downloaded the ringtones from the Play Store.. So it is in my apps but that's as much as I know..
Really feel dumb trying to figure all this out.. Thanks for the encouraging words and your help..
I am happy now to have the email tone worked out..

Apps drawer is just a term for the location where all your apps are (on home screen the icon on lower right looks like a grid - labeled apps) But now I understand more about the manner in which you got the sounds, you downloaded an app with iOS sounds right? If that is the case it may or may not actually place the files in the download folder but may store them elsewhere. Another option for you may be an app called Zedge. It is very popular and used by many (myself included). This app offers wallpapers, ringtones and notification sounds of all types to include any and all iPhone sounds. It may be a better option for you to try and using the app is quite easy. Once you find the sounds you want just tap to download and it will place them appropriately. Just a word about the app, it is full of ads, but they can be ignored easy enough.

Thanks, I have now used the Zedge app you pointed me to so it seems to work fine..

Opened the app drawer but the only option I see in settings is uninstall..
No worries I can live with the Zedge app.. Just seems some of the Iphone notification apps are missing..
Thanks for all your help, greatly appreciated..
