How can I wipe my Nexus 9 that I sent back but forgot to wipe my information off of?

Sent Nexus 9 back but forgot to wipe my information

How can I delete the information or at least deactivate the device from my Google Play account?

Where did you send it back to? If you sent it back to Google or any big retailer, they will almost certainly do a factory reset on their own, so your information is probably safe. Did you have a screen lock set up? If so, it's even more safe.

As far as I can tell, old devices stay on your Google Play devices list forever. I still have my old Acer A100 and Asus TF300T on the list, both of which I got rid of a while ago. I don't mind that they stay on the list, actually, because it tells you when they were last used--so it can act as an alert if you notice that the device has been active after you got rid of it.

There are very few shops where the techs have time to even look at your data, let alone copy it. And, as B. Diddy said, most of the larger shops have a pretty hard and fast rule that the first thing you do with a phone is a full reset. (Hard and fast enough that you can get fired if you're found checking the battery first in some shops - unless the problem is that the phone doesn't turn on, which would make a reset difficult.) Techs have to put out a certain amount of work a day - they don't have time to look through your phone for interesting data.

As far as removing a phone from Play, we've been asking for that ability for years. Google doesn't seem to care.
