How do Bolt owners feel about imminent release of Samsung Droid Charge?

Samsung has terrible support I would never own another Samsung product. Im sure the AMOLED screen will be beautiful however.

Having owned the Fascinate I can honestly say that the HW is very good but its the software and lack of updates that killed that phone. Every other Galaxy S variant has 2.2 expect this one...

Touch Wiz - I will take Sense all day
AMOLED - Yes its better but its still crappy OS setup
Overall look and appeal - Thunderbolt looks better IMO. Physical buttons...really?

Ah nothing like the smell of cheap build quality and fifth rate software in the morning spring air.

haha some people like physical buttons. ;)
I thought the fascinate was a pretty cool phone, rooted it's a pretty bad dude, but i never owned one.

The d charge looks okay. I thought it was terrible looking when it was announced at ces, but the look of it has actually grown on me a little bit. I would never think of trading in the tbolt for it, though, but a gig of ram sounds good, and the samoled+ screen will be cool for sure.

Even if Samsung released Froyo quickly like everyone wants, wouldn't people still be making ROMs and Themes for the phone? And everyone here knows that people would still download them and use them. So whats the difference if the phone doesn't update the software as quickly as other phones?

True but updates mean source code which helps developers even more.

I think the point here is we're all hardware junkies (being TBolt early adopters) which means we've all owned a Samsung phone before. And speaking as a former Samsung owner, like so many others it appears, by this thread, never again.
It's not that we're biased in favor of the TBolt, it's that we've done the Samsung thing, and to borrow from The Who, we won't get fooled again.

There was a time when HTC was absolute garbage too.

i do not like any samsung phones, great tv's, bad phones. almost as bad as motorola.

HTC makes the best android phones im my opinion

Well that's the issue then. HTC has clearly come a long way and continues to improve, however that doesn't appear to be the case with Samsung. Like many have said, Samsung is usually at the top of their game and the electronics industry in general when it comes to hardware. I don't think anyone will dispute the fact that Samsung makes some of the best of everything (TVs, monitors, dvd/blu-ray players, etc) hardware wise, but in terms of phones and software, it appears they need to step their game up a bit.

The whole point of the Galaxy S line of devices was to improve the poor image for software support that Samsung was previously known for. Their international versions were pretty quick to get Froyo and are now on track for Gingerbread but that isn't the case for the US markets. Hopefully google cracks down and limits how much manufacturers can tie their crap UIs into the basic Android framework and help speed up updates.

Those us with thunderbolt will be laughing when our phones are updated and the Samsung owners are waiting six months for an update.

Only one question how long did it take to get froyo on the fascinate?

Another good one was the Epic They still don't have Froyo. They started sending it out but it was so buggy that Sprint pulled the download about half way through so some people have it and some dont and the ones who do have screwed up cameras and other problems do to the bad Froyo version. They still have not fixed the issue. So like I said before Samsung has BAD after the sale updates and service.

How did you talk them into taking back your Fascinate?

I have found if you get the right C/S person sometimes you can get anything you want if they are willing to go to upper management and get an approval for you. Sometimes if you have a serious issue you might have to just keep calling in until you get what you need. Don't give up if you have a stinky hardware issue they CAN replace a handset with a new or different one after the 14 days you just have to have the sweet talking know how, to work the system.

In my opinion HTC over Samsung any day I do like the amoled screens but that's about it
