How do Bolt owners feel about imminent release of Samsung Droid Charge?

Bing!

I have had several Samsung products over the years that were disappointing from monitors, bluray, to phones.

I'm just done with them. I'm sure they make good stuff, I just never got enough of them to want to buy them again.

Will concede the AMOLED screen though. Only reason I even picked up one of their phones.

I have found if you get the right C/S person sometimes you can get anything you want if they are willing to go to upper management and get an approval for you. Sometimes if you have a serious issue you might have to just keep calling in until you get what you need. Don't give up if you have a stinky hardware issue they CAN replace a handset with a new or different one after the 14 days you just have to have the sweet talking know how, to work the system.

Agreed. I've already got my whole story ready for when we go pay them a visit this weekend. IF we can talk Verizon into taking back our devices, I'm thinking about the Thunderbolt. But I do love the Samsung screens, my wife wants another Samsung for that reason alone. We've gone from being new Android users (we both had BBs for years) to incredibly frustrated and disenchanted in 2 months' time because of our Samsung Continuums. We wanted to love them, but alas, they are pretty much a failure in so many ways. :'(

only read the op

no matter the specs, samsung is ****. I been burned twice by them now, never again.

and no, not even their TVs/monitors are that great. On the LCD side they make pretty decent TVs(not monitors). Their monitors have panel lotto you have to play unless you shell out tons of cash. Plasma side their TVs are far inferior to panasonic, both in image quailty and build quality. And the build quality also is an issue on the LCD side.

Their products are kind of like a ****ty racehorse, great out of the gate, but give it a little while and it starts going downhill fast. I think that really sums up all their product lines nicely.

Usually the store will never approve an exchange for you after the remorse period. You need to call C/S and get the approval from them they will put it in your file or call the store with the exchange RA# number then the store will take it back. I have never had luck with just the store except for Best Buy once they took my Epic back 6 weeks after getting it after another BB store refused to do it.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Much appreciated.

Um... Samsung has nice hardware. But after my fascinate fiasco Samsung will never get my money again.

Agree. Problem is this is essentially a Fascinate with a 4.3" and 4G. That's it- no other upgrades. Also for $300? Not a chance. $250 was pushing it already for the Thunderbolt.

I'm perfectly content with my Thunderbolt over the Charge.

I'll take a look at the S4 when my contract is up and Samsung pulls a redeemer. Looking at phones before then is simply masochistic.

Besides by the time I get a new phone I'll be carrying around a monitor, keyboard, and mouse in my backpack and my computer in my pocket ;)

I don't feel any different, the phone is not much better then the phone I have........I wouldn't own a Samsung phone. The amoled SCREEN YOU CAN'T SEE IN THE SUNLIGHT. Shall I go on. LOL

You must have been using some older generation Samsung screen. The current SAMOLED in the Galaxy S series can be seen just fine in direct sunlight.

The same way droid charge owners will feel when the bionic comes out. And the same way bionic owners will feel when the next lte phone comes out after the bionic.

I currently have 2 fascinates and a Tbolt on my account. I actually have a pre plus also, but won't talk about that right now.

Personally i went from the incredible to the fascinate to the Tbolt. There are things to like a lot about all 3.

The incredible was pretty awesome when i first got it, but the desire for larger screen and some hardware problems i had with mine (camera locked up phone regularly) ended up in an exchange for a fascinate.

When i first played around with the fascinate i missed a lot about sense. Sense in 2.2 had much better exchange integration for instance. Meeting requests that i would receive on my phone actually showed the time of the meeting and if there was a telephone number in a calender appointment on my phone i could just click the number and the Incredible would dial. As i do a ton of conference calls, and sometimes work at home from my cell, the lack of features that well, make sense, in touchwiz really bothered me.

The upside was that the fascinate ended up being quite a good phone. The battery life was much better than the incredible and once you got rid of some of the bloat and removed the crappy samsung widgets it was quite fast. Add to that the truly incredible screen (which frankly is as good outside as my Tbolt) and it is a nice phone.

Granted it doesn't have 2.2, but i did, so while i sympathize with people who are crying for 2.2 on the fascinate, it really wasn't a huge deal for me.

Additional benefits included the very nice audio subsystem, the GPU, and Odin.

I can't stress enough how awesome it is to always know that almost nothing you do to the phone can really brick it as ODIN can bring almost anything back from the dead. It also makes the phone stupidly easy to root. I probably miss this from the Samsung more than anything else.

Sense is more responsive to touch inputs than touchwiz, and this is a large part of why the Tbolt feels so fast. The screen is quite nice (even next to a SAMOLED), and I've gotten the battery life to where it's acceptable for me. I like the Tbolt more, but some of that is because it's new. In truth, you can't really go to wrongly with any of these phones.

To say one is awesome and the other sucks is distorting reality quite a bit as the differences between them are pretty fine.

I don't regret it at all as I really like HTC Sense. Besides, while I feel that Samsung makes some of the best LED televisions on the market, I don't find their phones to be anything ground breaking.

Samsung = worthless phone manufacturer

--Slow to no updates
--Buggy GPS
--Bad microphone/speakers
--RFS file system (horrible!)

They're saving grace is their electronics pedigree, which is what has helped them sell phones like the Galaxy S line. They just can't make a good phone for the life of them.

I will say, though, that SAMOLED looks phenomenal BUT it uses way too much power. The camera sensor in the Galaxy S is quite good, too.

I purchased the Bolt being well aware of the phones that are coming out. Each and every one of them (with the exception of the Droid X 2) will have their own problems that caused me to chose the bolt over them for. This latest Samsung device has two problems I don't like...it's butt ugly and Samsung just doesn't care about updates. We'll most likely have this discussion again upon the next new device release because you guys love to compare the latest and greatest. If battery issues are all I have to worry about with this phone, I'm good! However, I think I'm getting the Droid X 2! LOL.
