How do forums work???

Ive always been curious, and with me not being very tech savvy, my thread would be very awkward lol. So what areas do you all think would be easiest for me to delve into and discuss??? Any tips on how to continue through a thread seamlessly, and not look like a fumbling *****,that has no clue what shes talking about?

I'd probably start by reading the rules and guidelines for the site. Then cruising thru the popular or busy topics for a while. Then join up and introduce yourself and state your interests.
