In all of Samsung's advertising, it shows an actual picture of "optimized hiking routes" and a map on the watch screen of the trail. I have downloaded every maps app i can find for this thing, and i CANNOT figure out how to do what is in their picture.

I've also called Samsung, and they were clueless. He even pulled up the add and said, "hm." but couldn't help me. this was one of the main reasons i got this watch.

I'm afraid that this feature is like Spotify... advertised, but not really there. any information is much appreciated.

The watch was marketed deceptively at best. It has the hardware but not the software. I definitely will be returning mine because of how Samsung basically lied about its usefulness. Yesterday I was hiking in a very remote part of Hawaii in a volcano on Kauai and even though I had a GPS frontier watch, I could have gotten lost and had no idea where the trailhead was, where any landmarks were, or how far until I got to anywhere. I had more technology on my wrist than it took to get to the moon, but it was utterly useless to help me get back to my Jeep.

The watch is not what it was marketed to be. It has nothing to do with real outdoors or sports.

If you want your wrist to vibrate and tell you to get moving if you've been sitting for an hour, this thing is for you. If you want what Samsung advertised it as, wait for a fenix 4 I guess.

I'm hoping to get something like Viewranger on the Gear platform. It already has a mobile app and is compatible with Android wear and also Apple watch.

Now that Samsung has released Tizen Studio 1.0 hopefully it will encourage developers to embrace the platform. Should be easier to port apps.
