How do I adjust the ringer volume on my lock screen?

I would like to know how to adjust the ringer volume on my lock screen. When I press and hold the power button the only options I get are to restart the phone, etc. I am also unable to pull down the menu bar. Is there a way to change any of this? All replys and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, my phone (Galaxy S4) is locked with a pattern.
