How do I avoid accidentally hanging up on a phone call on my note 8 when the screen times out?

When I'm on a phone call, and my screen times out, I generally push the right middle button to turn the screen back on. However, 30% of the time, I end up accidentally hanging up the call. Is there another way to refresh the screen other than using the right hand button?

Press the screen where the home button would be visible.

When you're on a phone call with the phone to your ear, the screen shouldn't time out - when the proximity detector is triggered, the timeout timer stops.

If you're on speakerphone, tap the screen once every "less than the timeout time".
