Well folks, let's not jump to conclusions too quickly. This kind of thing can happen legitimately, but can be avoided with just a little attention to detail.

You can use Google Android Device Manager to resend a new lockcode to your device. Use a computer, Google Android Device Manager, enter your Gmail id and password, and send a new lockcode to the phone.
