You need a WiFi network (or a TV that supports WiFi Direct). Samsung devices (you don't say what you have) can connect direct to Samsung TVs that support it.
Without WiFi direct, you need the WiFi network and a Chromecast connected to the TV through HDMI. The app also needs to support Chromecast.
