Google Play account email address

When I purchased my new phone and created a Google Play account I used my work email. I have since retired and my email account has been deactivated. How can I change the email account if I am unable to log into it anymore?
I have an LG Optimus Dynamic II (LG39C) if that makes a difference. I have never purchased anything, I have only downloaded free apps.

Re: Google Play account email address

If you haven't done any purchase can't you just remove the current account from the device (Settings -> Account -> Google/Exchange -> Tap on email -> Menu -> Remove account) and add your personal google account?

Re: Google Play account email address

I would suggest setting up a Gmail account, if you haven't already.

Once you do that, go into the Settings menu on your Optimus. Settings-->Accounts-->Add account-->Add Existing

(Or you can set up a new gmail account through this same process, just select "new account" instead of "Add Existing")

Once you've added that Gmail account to your phone, go into the Play Store app, click on the 3 horizontal bars to the left, and select that gmail account to be active for your play store account. To use this account for purchases, go into your Google Wallet App and activate this account as associated with your Google Wallet, too.

Re: Google Play account email address

Thanks for the advice here!

I have a free Google Account that does NOT have gmail, and the email address username for that free account I currently use POP3 on my server to read it. I am moving that email address to a new Google Apps for Work account and once I do that, I will have to assign a new gmail address to the account that has my Google Play store in it. I understand I will be presented with options to either sign in with an existing gmail email or create a new one once I moved the email address to the Apps account.

Sadly, while I will be able to migrate my Google+, Google Drive and Google Calendar to the new Google Apps for Business account, Google does not provide a way to migrate the Google Play store. I have way too many paid apps in there to start over. This will be OK, I don't see any limitations that matter to me at this point.

I came here to learn how easy the adjustment on my phone was going to be after I am done messing with the free and Apps accounts, your thread helped answer my questions. Hope you were able to solve your situation also.

authentication failed, you have to sign into your google account

I had a google account before which I used to open google applications, but by mistake I put the new gmail address for my samsung A3 mobile. Now I cant not open my documents and photos which I registered on my previous google account. I would like to use my previous and remove the new one.
