How do i change my message+ display font color?

[Android Central Question]

I've put a custom image as the background for my message+ (this may be a Verizon specific text app) but since it's a pale yellow it's hard for me to see the message preview of the thread when I'm in just my inbox. The text strings are fine and in black but it's next to impossible to see the preview text because it's in a semi transparent white font. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've looked through all my app display settings.

It is a Verizon app, so email VerizonMessages@VerizonWireless.com and ask (if it's even possible, it may not be).
