How do i change resolution for games on android?

I'm using pie 9

I don't think that device has Pie, are you on a custom ROM? Resolutions are usually set by the app developer or based on the resolution of the device.

Right, and Samsung is slow as molasses when rolling out updates to their tablets. The two Tab A devices on this list aren't slated for Pie until October (https://9to5google.com/2019/01/02/samsung-android-pie-updates-2019/)

Go into Settings > About Tablet > Software Information. Look at the Android version, not the Samsung Experience version. My Tab S3 (which is a higher-end device) is on Android 8 with Samsung Experience 9.0.
