How do I change the background for my Message/Contact apps?

On my Galaxy S6, I have a theme on my phone, but I changed the background for my message and contact app long ago because the theme backgrounds were awful. But after changing some settings with the battery saver, it changed the background back and now I can't figure out how to change it back.
