How to change font size for web

Hi everyone.

I've just bought a Samsung edge plus after using a note 3 for the last 2 years. I have a problem with adjusting the text size for web browsing. On the note 3 (version 5.0) I used to go settings/device/personalisation/font to adjust to medium and the text would be ideal for me and my old eyes. On the edge plus (version 5.1.1) it's not there. Only thing I can see for font size is settings/display/ font. I can change it to extra huge but the web text size is still small. I've even tried it on a chrome browser by increasing the text scaling to 200% but it's still the same. Driving me nuts. Other places the text is large but not web. Pic shows same page on note3 and plus.

In browser open settings/accessibility and change font size

Re: How to change font size for web

On the Samsung internet browser it doesn't have that option. On the chrome browser it's settings/accessibility and text scaling which I drag to 200% (maximum) and it makes no difference the font size is still small. I've also downloaded Firefox and tried the settings on that and that's the same. So I can only conclude that version 5.1.1 which has taken this option away is to blame, and that the option in phone settings / display / font does not work in any browser.

Unless someone knows otherwise ?

Update.. I've found a way to increase the size of text in some sites , news, articles etc by using the 'reader view' on the Firefox browser but this doesn't work on most sites

Yup. Sliding all the way to the right doesn't do anything on Chrome on my phone. Not a fan of Firefox. Any other ideas?

Have you already checked the "force enable zoom" box? In my phone, running 5.1.1 as well, the zoom is working fine after you double tap.

Yes. Also, I was only looking at the Google search results not being any larger. If I open another website, that text is larger, so it seems to be an issue with Google which is funny since they make Chrome...

That's strange. I just checked with the same BBC page in Chrome and it works fine. I switched between 100 and 130%. Maybe something specific to your phone?

Re: How to change font size for web

Hi there. The BBC front page has tiny text on its articles but when you click into the article it has larger text. So it's seems to be a bit hit n miss. I go on a gaming site called itsyourturn and the text is tiny as is with a few other sites I use. Also the double tap zoom does work but the page does not fit the page meaning I have to scroll from side to side to read etc which is hard work and not ideal.

I still haven't worked this out. Has anyone else got this same problem ?

Thanks Sergysn it works !! I can't believe it. I've never heard of this browser but the font increases. Brilliant.

Re: How to change font size for web

I've got the same problem. I can increase font size, but decreasing doesn't work.

I don't have an S6 (I have the S4), but Ive been super annoyed with this problem. With Chrome, (1) the text size on many sites won't get larger OR smaller regardless the % level. On MOST sites where font size changes even work, (2) text size won't do anything below the 100% notch . I like to make text smaller for sites like Facebook and various articles so I can get more on the screen for screen caps, and it's less scrolling. Anyway, that's Chrome. This BS has existed with them for years.

Now with the stock Samsung browser (Internet), text size will change on almost every website I go to.... regardless of % level. I love that browser but it's getting too old as im on Android 4.3 (Rooted) and has compatibility issues on some pages (+other crap).

Firefox, when I tried the size changing.. it wasnt working on any page at all. I love FF but its got too many bugs constantly.
