How do I clear my email count?

e mail count shows I have 18 in the trash folder, but i don't have any How do i clear this?

What type of email account are you using? Is it Gmail, an IMAP account, a POP3 account, or an Exchange account?

What email app are you using, and what device do you have?

Not sure what the OP is using, but I and my wife both have the same problem.

Samsung GS4, default email client, POP3 accounts, latest AT&T 5.0.1 version. If you do a delete all on the trash folder in any account, or in the combined account, you have no mail there, but a non-zero item count on the respective trash folder. It doesn't seem to go away, either.
