How do I clear notification of unclearable notification on messaging app

[AC Question]

I got a text the other day on my Motorola droid turbo 2 (android version 5.1.1). After reading the text, my phone still shows that I need to read this unread text. It will not clear.

I have restarted my phone and restarted the messaging app and reread the message.

The messaging app is the default messaging app of the phone called "Messaging".

I'd post a screenshot but unsure how on this forum. The icon is green and the notification indicator is an orange "1" on the bottom right.

Go into your application manager and clear the cache for that app
