How do I configure Android 5.1 to have notification sounds for texts and calls keep repeating

On my HTC 526 phone with Android 5.1, I only hear notification sounds when I first get a phone call or text. If I don't answer the phone or text, I never hear any notification sounds afterwards, so I have to keep looking at my phone to make sure I didn't miss something. I would like the sounds enabled to remind me (every several minutes or so) that there is an unanswered call/text. I don't see such a setting under Android 5.1. How can I configure the sound notification this way? Is it possible?

Welcome to Android Central! Only some phones have a built-in way to do this. Samsung phones have a Notification Reminder setting in the Settings>Accessibility menu. If your phone doesn't have this, then try a 3rd party solution like Recurrent Notification Manager.

Re: How do I configure Android 5.1 to have notification sounds for texts and calls keep repeating

Hi. Android has it hidden in a silly place. Try going to your main " settings" menu. Scroll down to "accessibility" and there should be an option for repeat or persistent notifications.

Also you could try the settings menu within the messaging app itself. Go like you are going to send a text (but don't start composing one) and hit your menu button. A list of text messaging options should be there.

Hope something there helps! It took me forever to figure out and I was missing messages left and right. 😃

Does HTC have this in its menu? I know that Samsung does this, but this setting is a manufacturer-specific addition to the system settings--it's not in "stock" Android.
