How do I delete a text message thread that is massive?

Text message thread is too big to delete

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I've been trying to delete messages from my phone for months but there are a few group messages and other threads that just won't delete. I feel like they aren't deleting because of how long they are. My phone freezes and I have to restart it if I try to delete them. Any suggestions?

Goto your SMS app under setting/Apps and clearing the cache&data might help.
