I nandroid backup often, at least once a week. How can I safely delete all the previous backups and keep only the last 2 current ones?

Its very simple to do...

Use a file explorer (I use Astro).

Go to: sdcard > clockworkmod > backup

All your backups are in that folder. The files have a generic date/time formated name... I tend to rename the files to the specific ROM so it makes it easier to restore.

You should be using the newly updated CWM by GizmoDriod found here:

Boot into recovery.... go to backup/restore > backup. That will create a nandriod back up.

For info on what exactly it does, I suggest reading SheepDog Elites Guide to pretyy much everything, its a great write up and answers a lot of questions you may have: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...nate-beginners-rooting-read-me-3-31-11-a.html

Think of a nandroid backup as a snapshot in time. If you take one today and restore it next week the changes you made after the backup will not be restored when you restore it. It will be as if you went back in time.

All your text messages, caller history, app settings etc will be exactly as they were at the time you took the nadroid backup.

So than instead of t backup I could just do this. And after doing it. I looked in stock myfiles and I suppose to delete it u could use stock my files folder no Need for astro

It's a full system image vs just backing up apps like titanium backup. It's primarily used for restoring all the little things titanium will miss if you have to do a full system wipe.

You could use this over TB however if you restore a nandroid you will loose your call history log information since the last nandroid backup was taken as well as all text messages during that time. TB does not backup this data either you would need another backup app to get that type of data.

Also take into consideration that anything can become corrupted. If you rely on just nandroid backup and it fails to restore for whatever reason then you have lost everything. If you run it with TB you have a better chance of getting your apps back easily without a lot of hassle.

You can use the stock "My Files". It is just a program that allows you to browse your directory structure. "My Files" will only allow you to browse files on your SD Card. People use other apps such as "Root Explorer" with a rooted phone so they can gain access to the system files as well as their SD Card.

There are many times it would be preferred.

- Flashing a new rom (CWM makes an image of your ROM at the time, if you change it then restore a nandroid, you go back)
- Restoring individual items vs the entire image
- Restoring without losing current changes (nandroid takes you back in time essentially)
- Only backing up specific items (newly installed apps for example)
- Scheduled backups (mine automatically backs up at 4am every day)

I never said you couldnt use the stock myfiles... I just said I use Astro. Give astro a try sometime. Its free and much easier to use than the stock

Thanks guys! I will keep a nandroid for safe keeping. So like if I flash a theme I don't like I could just nandroid back.
