How do I delete or rename a contact group on a Moto E second Gen

Following upgrade to 6.0 I decided to review my contact details on my phone. Found I have a couple of very similar contact groups. I can put all the relevant contacts into one of the two groups, but then how do I delete the second group name so that I dont accidentally use it in future.
