How do I disable audio notification for lost WiFi connection (Android Oreo)

Every since the update to Android Oreo I get an annoying audio notification whenever WiFi connection is lost. I've gone through the notifications settings for "Android System" (very confusing options) and no matter what I try I still get the audio notification. Anyone know how to disable this?

Welcome to Android Central! That doesn't sound like a native feature. Does it happen in Safe Mode as well? https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2852139?hl=en
Thanks for the welcome and the tip. Turns out it does not happen in safe mode. So that means it's a 3rd party app I've installed?

Strange part is that it didn't happen before the upgrade to Oreo and I've not installed any new apps since the update. Guess I'll try to track it down among all my apps.

Well this is bizarre. I did not find the app causing the notifications. But booting to safe mode then returning to normal mode has caused the notifications to stop.

When you say audio notification, do you mean the default notification tone? For some reason, I had it in my head that the phone was actually speaking the notification to you.

When I think about it more, it makes sense that the system might notify you if you lost the wi-fi connection, but I'm not sure why Safe Mode would have turned that off. Let us know if it comes back.

Unfortunately the audio notification is back. Yes it's the default notification chime along with the pop up that I took a screenshot of above. There HAS to be a way to disable this.

Aha, I think I found it. Go to Settings>Notifications, tap Menu>Show System, then Android System. Scroll down to Network Alerts, and adjust the importance there (or just turn the alerts off).

Thanks. That is the "very confusing" menu of Android system options I was referring to. There is no way to set it completely to "off" on my phone, so I set it to Low Importance. So far so good...

Yeah, settings in Oreo have become really complicated, and I used to love how easy it was especially compared to how you have to dig down in iOS. Now we have to dig down just as far.

I tried following these instructions with my Pixel XL but I do not see these options?? Help! My phone continues to beep every 5 mins while at work

That used to be under Sounds in older versions. Looks like Google has removed it. Or, they have moved it elsewhere. Sorry couldn't be more help. I don't remember hearing a sound when I move out of WiFI range with the Pixel XL. But that just means I haven't paid attention.

I might have left out a step:

System Settings
Apps & Notifications
Notifications
Notifications (again)
Tap Menu button at upper right, then Show System
Android System
Scroll down for Network Alerts
Change Importance to Low (or change Sound to None)

I do not have a menu at the upper right corner, only the help button.

You have to tap Notifications again -- that's why I repeated it in my steps.

That worked for me!!! Thank you!
