I don't want to use the fingerprint scanner unlock on my Galaxy S6... how do I disable it?

its not enabled by default. You have to go to some lengths to even set it up.

If you enabled it and set it up, but now wish to not use it anymore, then go back into the lock screen settings, use either your fingerprint or backup password to enable your ability to change the lock screen settings ... then change to whatever lock mode you want (or no lock mode) ... it's up to you.

I tried disabling it via "Settings" but the option is greyed out. It got set up when I first set up my mobile and it now says it was done by an administrator or some such.

Can you take a screenshot of it?

I ran into the same problem.... I had to:
Touch Lock Screen and Security
Touch Other Security Settings
Touch Clear Credentials
After that "none" that was greyed out came back

Yup, this worked for me a couple weeks ago when I was trying some stuff.

OMG Thank you! The fingerprint scanner was driving me crazy and Swipe was grayed out. This worked.

If you can get the scanner to work well it's actually really convenient. As others have said the best way to setup fingerprint scanning is to scan multiple prints of the same finger.

For some odd reason my fingerprint scanner just stopped working today and being half asleep I couldn't remember my PIN of Gmail password. Needless to say I got timed out and unable to log in for several minutes. That's when I decided to disable the fingerprint scan and go back to a screen pattern. I think the fingerprint scan is real touchy

My left thumb reads much easier than might right thumb. Gotta try different fingers to find the one that works best.

OH THANK YOU!!! I was trying to remove the darn fingerprint for 2 hrs! My Otterbox Commuter case gets in the way of the fingerprint button (ok, it makes it difficult to use) -- I was expecting the SamsungPay to only use the high level of security within the App when paying -- NOT the whole darn phone!

Anyone know if just using the fingerprint only when using SamsungPay is possible?

Go into the settings menu on the phone
Go to Lock Screen and security
Scroll down to fingerprints
Use your fingerprint to log in
At the top of the screen on the right hand side select edit
then delete the finger prints that are saved.
Hope this helps.
