DEVICE:
Samsung Galaxy S8. Tied into home network that has Windows and Linux operating systems.

ISSUE:
  1. Turn on using the side button.
  2. Using Andriod 14; SM-X200 Build/UP1A.231005.007
  3. Loads factory default Chrome browser.
  4. Homepage is disabled.
  5. Below the URL, Chrome displays last 2 places from History - 9 icons showing some of where I visited the Internet, mixed with some unwanted (by me) site suggestions.
Above the URL, Chrome lists tabs of other pages I visited.
  6. Searches show how to delete the History etcetera, but I simply don't care to advertise where I've been.

QUESTION:

How may I disable/hide the History stuff from new tabs and existing previous visited? See image.

Thanks for the read.

I take it you don't want to disable history altogether, correct? You would still have your bookmarks and favorites but your history wouldn't be saved and then perhaps it would also prevent this pre-loading of links to places you've recently visited. I don't and haven't used Chrome in some time but I thought it had an option to clear history upon exit. Incognito mode should have this option. Not sure how much of a pain it would be to always be using it though. Chrome is also known for its extensions. Perhaps there is one for history that would do this automatically if the stock Chrome browser doesn't. If there is no option in the settings to disable to stop these icons, this is the only way I can imagine this being possible.

Yes. I just don't need, or want shortcuts to where I've been showing up on the browser (as seen in the image (OP). Don't want or need recent tabs either. But should still be available through the usual places within the Setting and menu.

It's clutter, and I would like some semblance of privacy if some one looks over my shoulder, or walks by. Where I've been is no one's business except me, Google and Samsung. Can't avoid them.

Tanks for the response VidJunky

There may be no way around it. That seems like a developer thing. You could try contacting them and asking what you can do about it, letting them know your feelings but my guess is they aren't going to take action unless it was something they were already looking into, I mean it's Google after all. There used to be a lite version of Chrome that might display things a bit differently. If it's still around you could try that but I haven't seen it or heard about it in a few years so it may not exist anymore. Another thing you would be to look at YouTube. While your problem specifically wouldn't be addressed you might find a Chrome options video or some other video on Chrome themes or appearance that would help.
