Ok so jerry had posted instructions on how to disable the lock screen on kit kat but there is no place to do so. I use a pattern lock that is set for 10 min and when I periodically check my phone I DONT want a lock screen. Nothing I can find here. It's really bugging me

Sorry, I'm a bit confused by what you're asking. The lockscreen will appear when your security timeout expires--that is, after the phone has been asleep for 10 minutes, the lockscreen will be appear if you wake the phone again. If you don't want the lockscreen, then you don't have security. There is a setting that makes the Power button immediately lock the phone, so you could turn that feature off.

you can't.

you either go through the pattern lock or you go through the lock screen.

this is probably to avoid accessing your home screen by accident if your phone is in your pocket and the power button is pressed or something.

just like the option to "bypass lock screen on wake", he wants to bypass the lock screen even if he is within his 10 minutes before the phone locks itself. he wants to wake his phone and be directed straight to his home screen.

and that is not possible.

If you go to Settings/Security/Screen Lock, and set it to None, it should completely bypass the lockscreen.

Oh, I see. There is an app that can sense if you're connected to your home Wi-Fi, and selectively bypass the lockscreen based on that. But you're right, it sounds like what the OP is asking isn't possible.

Now that I think about it more, you can prevent the lockscreen from appearing within the security timeout you choose, as long as you turn off the "Power button instantly locks" feature under Settings>Security. So if you press Power to put the phone to sleep, and then wake the phone back up within the 10 minute timeout period that you selected, then you won't see the lockscreen.

Sorry for the multiple posts.

do you have this feature in 4.4?

i certainly don't have it in mine...

You mean the "Power Button Instantly Locks" feature? That's not specific to 4.4. My old Razr Maxx running 4.1.2 has that feature as well.

Yep, 4.4.2 on my Nexus 5 (and 4.1.2 on my Razr Maxx). Here's a screenshot from my N5.

Now, granted, I'm not sure if this feature is somehow not available on the HTC One ...

we don't have this option.

probably removed by Sense.

Ah, I see. Sorry! The pitfall of trying to advise when I don't have every device in the world--although it sure would be nice if I had all of those toys! ;)

Yeah, this was a nice feature to have before. I hate that they removed it.

Go to Settings, Moore, Security, go down to the bottom of that screen and hit Clear Credentials.

A program which was downloaded or installed on your phone after you purchased it installed some type of credentials which prevented you from being able to remove your PIN or pattern.

I had the same problem and struggled with it for several months. I followed standard Samsung procedures and published YouTube videos to remove my screen lock and go back to a swype but had no luck. The options which for supposed to be highlighted including the None option we're not highlighted but once I cleared the credentials, the None option was highlighted and I was able to remove the Screen Lock.

It is so nice to be able to access my phone and not have to enter that "darn" pin every single time ☺

I tried the "clear credentials" gambit but to no avail. Any other way to do it short of wiping all the on-board RAM and starting fresh? Guess I could do that but I'd rather not.

Actually, doing the pattern bit wouldn't be all that bad except that sometimes the touch sensor on my el-cheapo Chinese tablet (yeah, I know, you get what you pay for) goes bonkers when I'm trying to sign in and a single finger touch shows (I have the debugging feature turned on to show where the unit senses a touch) multiple touches. Naturally, this makes the pattern entry invalid so I have to do it over - sometimes several times in a row. Good thing Android doesn't lock me out for multiple tries. Unfortunately when it comes back from an idle timeout or when I shut the screen backlight off without shutting the whole thing down it only gives me a single try before shutting the light off again. Gotta keep hitting that microscopic power button over and over. It usually registers OK when I use a stylus but even then it goes nutzoid sometimes.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I want to have the sdcard encrypted and I need a password. I screens locks immediately, it doesn't wait for that time ( I choose 30 min).
Clear credentials under Security is disabled (grayed out).
I'am using 4.4.2 on S4.

Does any one solve this problem somehow?
