Galaxy S5 Active Safe Mode won't exit

I was in the pool and took my phone into the water (supposedly water resistant) and it shut off. I took it out to find that water had gotten in due to a broken latch in the back. Now my phone won't exit Safe Mode even after restarting and the screen goes haywire at the most random times. I can send and receive texts, but whenever I try to make or answer a call, the phone restarts. I just bought the phone and I'm hoping to not spend too much money fixing it. Will I be able to fix it or do I need to take it in?

Re: Galaxy S5 Active Safe Mode won't exit

By this point, you probably need to replace the phone. A pool is probably chlorinated, meaning a very weak concentration of hydrochloric acid. The phone dried, concentrating the acid to the point that there's a lot of damage to the components, and it's going to get worse. The phone will probably need all the internal components (including the screen) replaced - which will cost more than a new phone. (Water resistant phones aren't covered by the warranty for water damage, even if the damage was due to a defect in the phone. You could probably sue and eventually get the phone replaced for free, but the suit would cost you more than buying a new phone.)

See Wet Phone so you'll know not only what to do to the next time a phone gets wet, but how to keep any phone, water-resistant or not, from getting wet in the first place.

I appreciate the help. Is there no way to salvage it? I just spent the full no-contract price for the phone and I'm not itching to get another.
