AC Question

Good evening, ladies and gents. I have samsung S6 and for some reason, a mute symbol now appears over the time of the last text I received from a certain contact.

I haven't blocked this contact and in it's settings, both the ringtone and the message tone are the default, however, since it showed up (naturally) I don't receive any sort of notification when it sends me a text message.

Can anyone help me?

Youre the bomb ! I literally thought I tried everything! It was my mothers link & I wasnt hearing her msgs come thru. Shes elderly & one of the main reasons for having a phone is in case someone needs me! This has been very stressful for me, thanks for taking the time to help us out!!

Thankyou so much for the instructions, they worked perfectly for my Galaxy Note 5.
It had been driving me crazy 😲 for a couple of weeks not getting any sound when i got messages from this one contact.
😁 thanks again

Thank you for mentioning the problem and thank you to those who provided the solution. I have a Samsung S7 and i had this issue too. Glad someone asked it before and helped others as well with the solution.

I had the same issue but here is the fix..
1) open the text of the user
2) click on the down arrow beside their phone number top left (conversation setting should open)
3) change the notification setting (if the setting selector is grey then they are muted)

Nathanielca,
Pretty cool that you were excited to help someone for the 1st time, and ended up getting replies from TONS of people that you helped with this info- including myself!
Seriously, I have had that symbol on there for MONTHS!!! The worst part was that it was on my daughter's contact info, so I wasn't hearing text messages from the #1 important person I need to hear them from! (Besides my husband 😊)
I even had my 19 year old daughter try to figure it out, and she couldn't. She usually figures EVERYTHING out. Of course, I believe she was texting with her boyfriend at the time... I usually google everything, but I guess I had a brain fart, because I didn't think to google this until years later! 😕😂
Thank you so, so, so, so, so, so, so much!!!

Thank you for this i actually got it off when it showed nothing in the settings at all that he was blocked. It has been tough for me especially when he is needing something important or his truck wont start thank you so much for helping me out with this.

Really quick and easy fix. Pity it isn't intuitive. Without forums like this the world of computers, tablets, phones etc. would be a complete mystery. And I spent 35 years in the IT industry!

I have that problem now with my S7, and there IS NO DOWN ARROW (or up arrow) next to the phone number. I had an update a week or so ago, so my whole phone is re-arranged now. Anyone know how to get the damn thing to work now?

I am having the same issue but my phone continuously mutes my conversation. I knew how to change the setting, so the first time I just unmuted it. However, it mutes the conversation on its own again and again. I have to go in every few days and change the settings again. Any ideas?
