Android Central Question

When I checked on my phone in the morning, the screen was black with a steady blue light. I tried pressing the power + volume button but nothing happened. I charged my phone and saw that the light eventually turned red after 5 minutes or so. I tried to press the buttons again and the light became blue again. Whenever I plug it into my laptop, it's still recognized. There are also instances where pressing the home button makes the blue light turn off but it eventually turns on again.

Does anyone know if I can fix it or if I have to bring it to a repair shop? Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! When you say the phone is recognized by the laptop, do you mean that you can actually access the folders using Windows Explorer? Or just that the PC recognizes a USB device plugged in? If it's just the latter, it doesn't mean much. The steady blue light is usually a bad sign -- it could mean battery failure or motherboard failure. Bring it to a repair shop.

Have you tried simulating a battery pull? I believe you have to hold the power button and the volume up key for about 15 seconds. I could be wrong but it is something like that (Google it). My phone did the blank screen and blinking blue light after an update once and that fixed it.

I think the forced shutdown button press is Power and Vol Down together for about 15-20 seconds.
