Android Central Question

Once upon a time I could set an android device to only use one frequency. This option is no longer present and the device switches between whichever frequency it thinks is best. For most applications this is not an issue. But, if I'm playing Clash of clans the switchover bumps me out of the game - generally when I'm midway through deploying troops, with the result that I lose the battle and waste my troops.
This is extremely annoying, to the extent that, on my own router I've given the bands different names so that none of the devices in the house can use 5ghz, even the ones I don't play games on.
However when staying at other people's homes I don't have this option. Is there any way to force a device not to switch frequency mid-session?

Strange, none of my devices Android or Windows automatically switch between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz on my router, they see them as different networks and remain connected to which ever I choose.

I'm not sure if it's a router setting or not.

See if the router has different connections for 2.4 and 5ghz. Then log into the one you prefer.

Each one should have a different SSID - network name, ie router1, router2 (of course your router's naming will be different)
