how do i get an mp4 file to show up in video app?

i put an mp4 file on my tablet (transferred via usb) and have tried moving it to the downloads folder, videos folder and movies folder and it doesn't show up in the video app in any of the folders! how do i get it to show up?

It play perfectly when i click it from the files app.

Have you tried using Kies to synch it? I had avi files I wanted to put on the tab, but I had to use Kies to move it from my PC onto the tablet, and Kies also converted it into mp4 or whatever the Tab uses.

I also had to reboot the tablet before they showed, maybe that's all you need to do.

I finally got it to show up by restarting the Tablet. Seems kind of stupid to require that though.
