Question Restore single app data from back up

I messed up the EasyTrail pictures folders, and I want to restore them. I have backups with Google and Xiaomi Cloud.
In particular I found the file EasyTrails(com.zirak.easytrails).bak in the backups and I'm sure it contains all the data I need it's (24mb size ).
The problem could have probably two solutions:
1)I could open and extract the files from the bak file, but I don't know which app to use??
2) I could use a dedicated app for a partial recovery to restore from the backup ONLY the app folder I'm interested in.
anybody help?

As far as your mention of getting a backup app and attempting to perform a backup restoration with pre-existing data, is probably not possible. Typically backup apps have their own way of storing and exporting the backup data that makes it unique to that app and probably wouldn't be compatible with another app's backup file. You might also check YouTube. If it has been done someone has posted about it.

unfortunatelly app does not support recovery from google..but i found that xiaomi has automatic backup up and you can selectively recover single app data. This partially solved the problem because I was able to recover the app data including the sqlite database file that contains waypoints and for each waypoint a pointer to the path of the picture. Unfortunately backup does not include the media folder which contained the pictures. so I solved 50% of the problem. I was able to recover most of the photo from google foto put them back in the media folder and with the recovered database file I was able to fix most of waypoints. still looking for a better solution

Welcome to AC!
Those back ups are probably encrypted so only a factory reset or setting up a device from scratch can add that data back , maybe try backing up to Google photos
