how do i get any use out of my micro sd card?

i added a micro card to my samsung tablet and when i want to update apps it says i have no storage left but i have all the storage from my sd card

Welcome to Android Central! SD cards are primarily useful for storage of media (like photos, music, and videos). You can't install an app completely on an SD card (at least not on any device that doesn't have Marshmallow). Some devices (but not all) allow you to "Move app to SD," but this only means that a portion of the app (usually a small portion) can be moved. And not all apps support this anyway.

This is why it is important to get a device with as much internal storage as you can comfortably afford.
