Ever since the new update my phone will not allow me to send an emoji without it appearing as question marks for the recipient. When I press send it says to change the input mode to automatic but nothing changes. How can I fix this problem?

Have you found the settings on the first thread page of the messaging app, see below. Some major updates reset the phone settings to default. Hope this helps.
