How do I get photos from samsung cloud to PC or back to phone storage

I have a Samsung 8+ it has 8000 photos on it some back to Jan 2018 are on DCIM only on phone and transfer to PC by cable they are also on Samsung cloud those prior to Jan are only on Samsung Cloud. Samsung Forums say you can download from Cloud to PC using Gallery this doesnt work I contacted Samsung by phone and they said that I would have to use Google Photos ( I can find absolutely no reference to this anywhere on Samsung website) Google photos brings in all same photos ie all the ones not in Samsung Cloud. How do I move the photos out of Samsung Cloud to somewhere I can use them?
