when I use my browser on my phone I get google play ads trying to sell me games.

I get ads for this and that, and they are unintrusive, welcome and helpful.

If you don't like the ads, try changing your browser settings.

#NoChromo browser. No ads. Based on Chrome. No root needed.

In chrome go to settings then advanced settings then site settings and disable popups

You need to figure out which app is displaying the ad and uninstall that app.
"Free games" are often a leading cause.

When did it start? In the app drawer you can view apps by date of install. Uninstall recently installed likely apps (perhaps a battery app?) one by one until you find the culprit.
