AC Question

For awhile now I've been getting strange Facebook popups on my home screen whenever I turn on my tablet. It covers a good size portion of the bottom right corner of the screen and usually contains a link to a news article (many times about drones). I don't have the Facebook app so it's pretty strange that something like this is happening. The popups don't seem like a major threat to my Android's security, but sometimes it can get a bit annoying. Also I've scanned my Android several times for malware/adware/spyware/etc. with different security apps but my problem still exists. Google hasn't helped me much either. If someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this and have a great day! :-)

Thanks to everyone who's started posting here again. I'm surprised this question wasn't dead by now! I'm still willing to try anything, but I've basically decided that my problem probably won't be fixed. Thanks again :)

BTW, good luck to everyone who has the same problem. I hope you can get it fixed!

Idhchief I am coming to you from the future to tell you, you are my superhero!!!! I have spent countless hours trying to get rid of this fake Facebook popup on my S5 and S6. It was coming up every time I did Chrome search. I followed your recommendation, and it was embedded in both m.facebook and another site I didn't recognize. Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and yours.😀😎

Recently I began getting arbitrary full screen ads out of nowhere on my Android phone. When I could open the little triangle they all led me to Facebook. I don't have a Facebook acct. but my husband does so I went into his acct. and tried to opt out but found that and opting out of ads through Google to be impossible. They have a strangle hold on us!

Yesterday I found an app in the Google play store and installed it. All day there were no ads so I upgraded to the premium version for $3.00. So far I have seen no ads and I have my.fingers crossed. The.app is called Anti-Adware. I hope this helps someone else.

I am test disabling different apps until I find the culprit, this is very annoying I have disabled Facebook and messenger at the moment because when I press the ad choices button on the advert it comes up with Facebook ads. I am waiting to see what happens, I will keep trying however if not as I hate all these ads. I do think though that not everyone's problems on this forum are from the same app, and if you don't want to reset it is going to be a trial and error process. I think mine was Facebook messenger but I'm waiting for it to see. My phone seems to have Facebook built in because it doesn't have an uninstall option just disable. I think that it's terrible not being abled to uninstall Facebook, whoever thought it was a good idea to do that was an *****.

I recently read about that, the explanation from the Facebook people - possibly even from Zuckerberg himself - being that they want to give users “the best experience” or some such (now what’s the word I’m looking for?).
