How do I get the Messenger+ Icon on my home page to give show the number of unread texts?

I just upgraded to a Galaxy A10e (SM-A102U), and my old phone had Messenger in the bottom of the home page, and whenever I'd get a text, I would see a number on the icon, telling me a new text had arrived (and how many).

I didn't like the layout of the new Messages app, so I went with Messenger+, but I can't seem to get the number to appear.

Hi, do you have icon badge on ? Just long press home screen on empty space ,then home screen settings >app icon badge show with numbers
