How do I get the setting my HTC One M8 default messaging app to stay?

HTC One M8 default messaging app

Hi There,

I've got a strange problem with my M8. Hope you will be able to help me here!

I've selected Messages as default app for messaging thru Phone app. Later for some reasons I wished to reset the messages app preferences. And, I did so too. But, after resetting the app preferences too, the issue still exists.

To resolve this issue, I've removed the back up data on my google account and also, cleared the app history in my account. Not sure what is going worng.

I'm not sure what is happening here. Would be great if you help me out here.

1) Messaging has nothing to do with your Google account, it's linked to your phone number.

2) You message through the messaging app, not through the phone app. Messaging for text, Phone for voice.

3) What issue still exists? You told us what you did, but not what the problem is.

The issue is I'm not able to select as my default text messaging app.

Messages is already set as the default sms app from the start, go to Settings, More, and you will see it there.
