Increase size of the box you type in for texting

I have the Moto E , Android kitkat 4.4. Love the phone so far, if I could just see more easily the message that I'm texting, without having to scroll up and down so much, to reread the msg before I send it ...

Unless there's a grab area in the lower right corner of the box (you press it and draw it down to make the box longer), you can't. It's the size the person writing the app made it. You can get other texting apps that have larger or resizable boxes.
