How do I install Developer tools on Windows 8?

I recently tried to install the developer tools onto my Windows 8 pc and sadly I can't get it right some pop ups appear and I feel like I'm not doing something right, can somebody walk me through how to get through it, or give me a video link on how to do it, it would be very helpful.
