How do I keep Assistant on all the time?

I just bought my wife a Moto G7 and added the Google Assistant app. How do I keep the app open all the time? On my Samsung S9+, it's open all the time.

So far I haven't been able to find a 'toggle' to allow Assistant to be available without touching the app.

What do you mean by "open all the time"? Do you mean that you want it to respond even when the phone is asleep and on a lockscreen?

If you have hey Google toggle on , it's ready by voice commands all the time when called upon
