Tried rooting my phone and I was having problems with the phone freezing up after it rebooted and I unlocked the screen. It said device not found. I repeated several times then deleted all my apps thinking maybe because heytell, weatherbug, batterylite etc were all running that maybe it was freezing because of that. I deleted EVERYTHING and now when I run the root is reboots once and said exploit successful but it all happens in like 3 seconds. How do I know if I am rooted?

look in your apps. if you have superuser, than your rooted. also download wireless tether or titanium back up and if they work... you're rooted.

A sure fire way is to download and run Titanium Backup - as soon as you start the app, it will tell you if you're rooted or not.

I did the root (first time rooting an Android) on my DL09 Fascinate. I used the batch file/Samsung Driver method. Searched for this thread because the final reboot of the phone had not happened yet, after that I see the Superuser app as mentioned.

Should I buy Titanium Backup?

I was reading that there are methods/files available that can restore your phone in case you "brick" it.

I know at least I want to get rid of Bing and some of Verizon's crApplications (my new word :D ).

Eventually I suppose I'll install a ROM/Kernel... :)

You dont have to buy titanium but i recommend it, so you dont have to say ok for every app that you restore

all of these can be found in the stickys in the roms/hacks section
